Passing Down the Passion To His Sons

Geneva Chiropractor | Pain Relief | Batavia ChiropractorTo say that chiropractic is the Staker family business is putting it mildly.

Dr. Bryce C. Staker’s family has been providing chiropractic care for nearly a century, and with his sons entering the field as well, the streak will not end anytime soon.

Dr. Staker, owner of Staker Chiropratic Life Center in Geneva, began his journey into chiropractic care not as a provider, but as a patient.

As a child in 1947, Dr. Staker fell down the stairs in his home in Traer, Iowa.  The painful fall led to a decrease in the use of his lower extremities, and his joints began to swell and become stiff.  Doctors were unable to determine the cause of his condition, and the prescribed medications failed to resolve his problems.  For nearly a year, Dr. Staker and his parents wondered what was causing the problem, until he visited his uncle and a chiropractic care provider, Dr. Frank Henry.

“He examined my spine and found out that my fall down the stairs had caused vertebrae in my spine to be misaligned and was causing serious nerve interference, “ Dr. Staker recalled.  “Because I was so ill, he made house calls to our home almost every day for six weeks and gave me spinal adjustments to remove the nerve interference.  Soon I started to walk normal again and all the swelling was gone from my joint… Ever since that time I knew I always wanted to be a chiropractor.”

From that moment, Dr. Staker pursued his dream, graduating Summa Cum Laude from the Palmer College of Chiropractic in 1966, and was the valedictorian of his class.

He opened his first office in Geneva at 130 W. State Street in 1969.  He then moved to a larger office at 416 W. State St., before building his own clinic in 1976 at 501 Lark St. in Geneva, across from Delnor-Community Hospital.

Dr. Staker passed down his passion for providing chiropractic care to his son, Bryce J., who graduated from Kaneland High School in 1997.  Bryce J. received an associate’s degree from Waubonsee Community College, and graduated from Northern Illinois University in 2002 with a degree in biological science.

Dr. Bryce J. Staker went to Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa and graduated with a Doctor of Chiropractic degree (cum laude).  He joined his father in practice at Staker Chiropractic Life Center in Geneva.

Dr. Bryce J. Staker is certified in chiropractic biophysics, a specialty in chiropractic procedure to improve and rebuild spinal posture to a healthier posture.  Dr. Bryce J. Staker believes children need to grow and develop straight spines and healthy nervous systems.  He has had his spine checked and adjusted by his father since he was born.

“Everyone who has a spine should have it examined by a chiropractor for misalignment,” Dr. Bryce C. Staker said. “I have been going to a dentist since I was 5 years old and still go every six months for  checkups.  Why shouldn’t we do the same for our spines ?”

Dr. Bryce C. Staker’s second son, Dr. Bryan C. Staker graduated from Life Chiropractic University in Marietta, Ga.  Dr Bryan Staker opened his practice in Chambersburg, PA.
